Amaya is primarily a performing dancer in the area of Middle Eastern Dance and also Andalusian Gypsy Dance. Her dance is a fusion of Flamenco Gypsy and Arabic styling, usually performed with a guitarist and drummer. She teaches belly dancing locally as well as senior aerobics classes.

Amaya travels internationally for both master workshops and professional performances. In New Mexico she is primarily known for her summer International Shake & Bake Festival that draws belly dancers from all over the world to Albuquerque to study, tour the Southwest, and perform.

We attended her workshop in Atlanta, April 2001, and was totally impressed.
